Style file: Get shifty this spring

Few silhouettes are as forgiving and flattering as the shift. My closet is loaded with shifty tanks. They're perfect for throwing on with jeans, shorts and skirts. And also for concealing a pooch - whether caused by a bundle of joy or a basket of fries.

My Spring fever came a little early this year, thanks to the unseasonable 90-degree weather we've been experiencing here in Austin. Looks like the best medicine for the fever is a healthy dose of new shift dresses!

Everybody's pushing them right now. Anthropologie, of course, has the finer variety that I usually only lust after. But Gap, Banana and the other usual suspects are getting shifty too.

Even Two Blue Peas has a tiny version of the trend for your little fashionista.



I'm still clinging tightly to my fab brown flat boots, but according to the mannequin in the fancy section at Nordstrom, it's perfectly safe to mix the two together going into spring.

The only side effects seem to be complements and a randy husband.
