Baby gifts with personality

I love, love, love shopping for unique baby gifts. That whole "always a bridesmaid, never a bride" thing morphed into an "always a babysitter, never a mama" thing for me somewhere in my mid twenties.

I've probably attended more baby showers over the years than weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, and birthday parties combined. Needless to say, I've developed quite the knack for finding the perfect baby gift.

I do always like to grab something "practical" from the… eh hem… big box store I won't dare mention. But there's no element of surprise here for the new mama. And it could have come from anyone on her invite list.

So I pair the boring with the brilliant to give her a gift that has more meaning behind it, plus reason to think of me every time her little pea uses it.

Start with something you share with the parents, or something you love about them. It can be a hobby, a personality trait, or even an adorable quirk. Add a custom monogram, a handwritten note, and voila! The perfect baby gift.
