Solid gear for solid foods

So you’re finally ready to give solids a shot, but the idea that your little one is not a newborn anymore feels a little sad.

Sure, there will be fewer bonding sessions over the bottle. Less lap feedings and more big boy or girl meals at the table. But the wild ride you’re about to embark upon together will all too quickly make you forget about those days.

You’ll have plenty of other things to focus on, like scraping peas off the ceiling, washing clothes ten times a day, and keeping fallen treasures out of Fluffy’s mouth.

You’ll need what seems like a ridiculous battery of gear to get started, and the options are endless. But Two Blue Peas has some of the best goods out there to help make mealtime go smoothly. Well, as smoothly as possible.

High Chair
First, you’ll need a high chair. These puppies range from cheap to exorbitant, basic to elaborate, strap on to stationary. Depending on the size of your space, the style of your home, and the functions you’re looking for, there’s a perfect high chair out there for you. A good mid-price, mid-size, full-style model is the Boon Flair High Chair by Boon, Inc. It glides easily, has a pneumatic lift, waterproof pad, and comes with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty to sweeten the deal.

Splat Mat
If you love your hardwoods and hate your mop, a mess mat is the only way to go. They protect your floors, wash beautifully, and make it easy to fold up disasters quickly when the mother-in-law pops by unannounced. Splat Mat Sets by Mullins Square are perfect for the job. They have fun prints, are generously sized, and come with a matching laminated baby bib, terry washcloth, and plastic-coated spoon.

Baby Dishes
Serving food straight from the jar is a universally understood no-no. Germs can lurk in the jar of unfinished food, and then go straight into baby’s mouth at the next feeding. It’s always best to be safe, plus with adorable baby dishes by BabyCie and Boon, Inc. feeding is so much more fun.

Baby Bibs
Keeping baby’s face clean is an impossible feat, but keeping onesies spotless is a actually pretty darn easy with the right baby bibs. Two Blue Peas carries them in all shapes and sizes, fabrics and finishes, and we even offer monogrammed bib and burp sets that make really unique baby gifts.

Baby Travel Gear
Unfortunately, meals out and about will now require more than just your trusty boobs. You need travel cases for food storage, utensils for feeding, a snack trap for mini morsels, and a safe sippy cup (BPA free!) to wash everything down. Toss it all in your diaper bag and you’re all set with baby’s own mini mart on-the-go.
